Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony November 19 – 6:00 pm – Sponsored by Idaho Central Credit Union

Join us at The Broadway Plaza (340 Memorial Dr.) for our annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.

The special large tree in the Broadway Plaza will be “Honoring Idaho’s Brave”. The tree will be decorated red, white, and blue.  Almost every family can look back in their lineage and see a family member that has served and sacrificed for our freedoms and liberties.  There will also be an ornament for each branch of service, an ornament for each Battalion of the Idaho Army National Guard, and an ornament for each Gold Star Soldier since September 11, 2001, our ‘Killed In Action’ Service Members will be represented with a Purple ribbon tied for their sacrifice.

We will welcome the City Council, Mayor Rebecca Casper and Santa who will arrive on a firetruck. A local vocalist will perform the National Anthem and members of the National Guard will present the Colors as part of the ceremony. Santa will start the countdown to light up the Plaza with a sea of lights! The magic of Christmas will be alive and well when Santa and his helpers turn on the lights throughout downtown Idaho Falls. Visit with Santa after the tree lighting and get a special treat.

Also found in Civitan’s Plaza at Park Avenue and B Street, enjoy the ‘Holiday Tree Forest’ that has been decorated by local schools and other groups.  Sponsored by the Civitans of Idaho Falls and the individual trees are sponsored by local business and individuals.

We want to give special thanks to the Idaho Falls Parks and Recreation for bringing Christmas to life downtown; The Snakebite Restaurant and XVIII for sponsoring the horse drawn carriage rides allowing the community to ride the trolley complimentary; National Guard Family Programs for decorating the Memorial Veterans tree; the Civitans of Idaho Falls for sponsoring lights and man-power; and the many sponsors and school groups for the potted trees and decorations – this is truly a community effort!
