Established in 1986, The Actors’ Repertory Theatre of Idaho (ARTI) is a nonprofit, all volunteer organization dedicated to producing professional quality theatre for Southeastern Idaho audiences.

Since its beginnings, ARTI has been a dinner theatre venue, offering audiences not only a wide variety of theatre, but also an intimate dining experience including beer and wine service. Since 2001, ARTI has owned its theatre, located in Historic, Downtown Idaho Falls, and recently named The Phoenix.

ARTitorium on Broadway is housed in the old Rio Theater on West Broadway in downtown Idaho Falls. The Rio originally opened under the name of the Broadway in 1924, was renamed the Fox shortly after, and became the Rio in the mid-1930s. The theater closed in 2001.

The building was donated anonymously with the hopes that it would become a lively and fun place of kids in downtown Idaho Falls. Construction began on ARTitorium on Broadway in November, 2013 and was completed in June, 2014. It opened to the public on August 15 and 16, 2014.

The Art Museum of Eastern Idaho

The Art Museum of Eastern Idaho (TAM) operates in the public trust as a museum of service and as a regional leader in the visual arts. TAM promotes the power of the arts to educate, inspire and enhance the lives of individuals of all ages and abilities in eastern Idaho.

To ensure the arts are an integral part of living for the youngest to the oldest citizen, TAM showcases rotating art exhibits, acquires and displays artwork–particularly works by Idaho artists–and provides extensive art educational opportunities.

In 1990, local arts enthusiasts joined together with the goal of bringing more art and culture to eastern Idaho. In 1994, a local businessman donated three adjacent dilapidated downtown buildings to the newly formed Idaho Falls Arts Council (IFAC), including a historic former vaudeville theater.

IFAC raised over $4.5 million to renovate these buildings to become the Willard Arts Center, which currently encompasses the historic Colonial Theater, two visual art galleries, nine artist studios, meeting rooms, and administrative offices.

The original 1919 vaudeville theater, and later movie house, has been fully refurbished for modern stage and film presentations. The lobby and the theater have retained historic art deco details like the black and white tile, elaborate crown molding, and the swooping proscenium ornamentation. The theater seats 998. 

The Idaho Falls Arts Council can provide concession services, including wine, beer, soda, water, and select snacks in the Carr Gallery.

The lobby is included in the rental of the theater, but other spaces may incur additional costs.
